My Fashion Shoot!

For my Digital Photography Assignment, I had to create my own fashion shoot. I chose my friend Aimee O'Connell as my selected model and used her clothes. It was a great experience to do as I have learnt so many different camera techniques throughout the year and this helped me to take all these photos in the way that I did. Secondly, I have Image Processing once a week and this class helped me to edit my photo's by lightening the photos in certain areas and making certain areas of the shoot stand out more compared to other areas. I enjoyed the experience and if I had the chance later in life, I'd definitely love to be involved in fashion shoots, photography, magazines, hair & make-up.

I chose Aimee a wine coloured blazer along with a light denim shirt and cream wool jumper. Also to go with this look was legging's and dark red Doc Martins. She wore two simple pearl bracelets along with a rose and gold mirror pendant necklace. I wanted to create 'The Student Look' which is quirky and does stand out. I also loved Aimee's glasses which were by Gok Wan so I decided to keep them for the shoot as I always think glasses refers to reading and studying which then relates to students.

I chose Limerick's People Park as it has many different areas to take photo's. This time of year, Spring, has many new animals and plants around so it was great to mix nature into this shoot. My favourite place of all to shoot the photo's in the park was by the tree's. My first photo below was taken here and there was many more taken here. I had great fun directing the shoot and telling Aimee how to stand or pose. Aimee was really easy to work with and remained calm all through when being instructed how to pose.

The Parlour Meeting Showing our Designs!

Aubars Pub in Limerick asked our Fashion Design class to design uniforms for their new bar called 'The Parlour' which is inspired by the 1800's look mixed with tweed and converse look, basically - Avril Lavigne meets Downton Abbey. Anyway, heres a few pictures from that day taken by moi.

Me and the fabulous most glamourous woman ever, Rose Griffin, who makes the best cupcakes, mincepies and wholemeal bread in all the land of Irelasnd. She was nervous for the meeting & I was excited!

Also, the college put up their christmas tree today and I thought it would be nice to get a close up showing of my digital photography skills that don't quite exist, but I like the photo.

Here is Katie Murphy, the next Mary Portas, showing her Fashion Designs to the staff of 'The Parlor' - A woman in action!

Here is the rest of the gang nervous and anxious for their meeting with the staff. Kate, Autumn, Avril & Veronica.

Raffaele Ascione!

Today was amazing to meet Raffaele Ascione, an already-made-it becoming-more-famous fashion designer who currently lives in London, from Italy but studied in my college back in 2003-2005 , Limerick College of Further Education, and learnt from the same tutors I am now. He was inspiring and he really gave me more drive and determination with the fashion industry as I felt like I was going no where with it recently, he even told us that he to this day, even though he's already made it in the industry, still doubts himself. I really learnt alot from him today such as if I really want the full fashion experience I should get myself work experience in any part of the industry with any free time that I have and do interns during the summer just to gain valuable skills and experience. I was totally star struck by him, althought I acted calm. I cant believe that it hasnt taken him long to make it in the industry and hes already worked with Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Florence Welch aswel as being approached by Burberry, Max Mara and even got to work for Pugh and John Rocha.
This evening I went straight home and researched what I have to do to get myself in a position like him, I even found out that St Angelas College, Sligo is starting a new course in September 2012 doing Fashion Design & Business Mananagment which is right up my street. Just gotta work well in my course getting five distinctions and a portfolio by February 1st. Im too excited for my future now, I hope it works out.

Shopping!

I love my new canvas shoes. I know they're plain and there isn't lots of admiration to be found in them, but I think they're brilliant because the colour is neutral and will hopefully match all my outfits, I can't wait to wear them tomorrow. They are £22 from Topman & are part of the new TOPMAN SPORTS CANVAS range. I got £2 of using my student card, typical cheapskate. Also on the same day, I went to see Paranormal Activity 4 which was terrible. Just in case you think it's scary, it's not. Once you've seen the first one, you've basically seen them all.

Topmans stepping up!

For so long I've been waiting for these Grey chambray and navy twill 2 tone canvas plimsolls on the popular mystery chunky sole. 100% TEXTILE. Topman, Burton, River Island ( MY FAVOURITE SHOPS) have only had plain browns, blacks and navys in this past season. I love grey coloured canvas' because they're neutral and go with everything. My other favourite colour to wear is burgundy.

Think I will have to buy these also just to match. £50 for both together! Can't wait to get my grant, a bit of online shopping will be done.
